Freidus, Abraham Solomon

Freidus, Abraham Solomon
(1867-1923)
   American librarian and bibliographer. He was born in Riga, Latvia and lived in Paris, Palestine and London, before settling in New York in 1889. In 1897 he was appointed first chief of the Jewish Division of the New York Public Library. He developed a classifi-cation scheme used for Judaica.
